Demantoid Garnets

Demantoid is a rare green variety of andradite garnet . This variety primarily presents as adamantine green dodecahedral crystals. While andradite garnets are characterized by their iron and calcium content, demantoid crystals receive their green coloration from chromium substitution at the chemical level. They are hard enough to be readily cut and faceted, making them a very popular gemstone passing for a diamond/emerald hybrid.
