Halite, commonly known as rock salt, is a naturally occurring mineral form of sodium chloride (NaCl). Halite crystals are typically cubic in shape, showcasing the mineral’s perfect cleavage that breaks into distinct right-angled blocks. These crystals form through the evaporation of saline water in arid environments or shallow basins, resulting in deposits that range from small granular formations to extensive salt beds.
