Fire Agate

Fire agate is a rare and captivating variety of chalcedony celebrated for its striking, metallic iridescence—flashes of copper, gold, green, and violet that seem to shift and dance beneath the surface. This “fire” comes from ultra-thin, iron-rich layers that formed millions of years ago in the volcanic regions of northern Mexico. As silica-rich fluids moved through hollow cavities, thin films of oxidized iron settled onto growing chalcedony layers. Later, additional chalcedony sealed these films inside the stone, preserving the shimmering Schiller effect and creating the vibrant, dimensional play of color fire agate is known for today.
