Oregon Fire Opal

Opal is a gemstone that has captured the attention of the masses for centuries. Opal has various forms, but the primary variety that comes out of Oregon are common fire opals. Fire opal is a transparent or translucent opal that is mainly formed in the depth of volcanoes or lava when the water gets trapped in the lava, giving it a beautiful yellow, orange, or red pigment. The color is created by the presence of iron oxide inside the opal.
