Gillespite

Gillespite is a rare barium mineral that is only found in metamorphic contact zones and glacial moraines. Typically it bears a beautiful deep red color. It is named for its discoverer, Frank Gillespie, who first found the mineral in a moraine on a mining claim he had staked. The type locality is in the Dry Delta west of the Alaska Range in south-central Alaska.
