Garnierite

Garnierite is a green, nickel-rich silicate mineral that serves as an important ore of nickel. It’s not a single mineral species but a general term for a group of nickel-bearing phyllosilicates—typically variants of serpentine , talc, or chlorite—formed through the weathering of ultramafic rocks like peridotite. Its distinctive green color, ranging from pale to deep emerald, is due to its nickel content. Garnierite typically occurs in veins, coatings, or massive aggregates with a soft, waxy to earthy luster.
